About the PRECINCT Project

EU Critical Infrastructures (CIs) are increasingly vulnerable to various intentional cyber-physical attacks (e.g., malware, terrorist exploits) as well as natural hazards (e.g., extreme weather, fires, earthquakes, and Lucky_Dreams the disastrous effects of global warming), and hybrid threats, including fake news. While recent research and emerging solutions focus on protecting individual CIs (ports, energy distribution, hospitals, etc.), the interconnections between CIs have become more complex. The PRECINCT project provided a model-driven, collaborative, and integrated cyber-physical security and resilience management platform for smart, resilient PRECINCTs. This Lucky was achieved by leveraging advancements from the CIP and INFRA-01 projects, along with the extensive work in urban and critical infrastructure protection (e.g., RESILENS, DRIVER, RESOLUTE), embedding key insights into the PRECINCT models Lucky_Dreams and services.

Objectives

The PRECINCT Ecosystem Platform connected stakeholders from interdependent CIs and emergency services to collaboratively manage security and resilience, utilizing technologies like Digital Twins, Serious Games, and AI. The aim was to enhance CI protection by Lucky addressing vulnerabilities Lucky_Dreams arising from interdependencies and cascading effects.

The validation scenarios, conducted in four large-scale Lucky_Dreams Living Labs and three transferability demonstrators, led to the development of ready-to-use tools by the end of the project. The increased automation and accuracy in security and resilience management reduced costs and improved Lucky efficiency in CI management. The main societal benefits include enhanced physical security, safety, and data protection for both personal and organizational information.
